The CavinKare Ability Mastery Awards

There are two awards comprising a citation, a memento and cash prize of Rs.100,000 each, to be awarded in recognition of exemplary personal achievement of a person with physically challenged. These awards are in recognition of the individual's mastery in any field like Arts, Science, Technology, Health, Sports and Education etc. Physically challenged people who have set a high standard for themselves and gone on to achieve it - have been a source of inspiration to others, although not necessarily been directly involved in service to others.

The awards which were instituted in the year 2002 for the first time, has been successfully organized for four years now. The awards per se have attained a large scale in terms of event management. The New Indian express group has been associated with the ability awards from the day one. The last awards on March 4, 2006 has had an audience of more than 1100 people, and hosted performers from West Bengal, most of who were also physically challenged. A lot of celebrities and eminent personalities from all walks of life graced the occasion with their presence.

Apart from the event, the awards process itself is getting complicated given the increasing number of applicants every year, amount of money spent on organizing it, and stature of people involved with it. With a dual intent of both satisfying its Corporate Social Responsibility commitment and granting credibility to the stature of the awards, CavinKare has tied up this year with Ernst and Young Pvt. Ltd. for process validation year on year. The New Indian Express group and the Bhaskar group have also come together with CavinKare and Ability Foundation for the noble cause as the Media partners for the CavinKare ABILITY awards. Apart from above, there are lot of other media publications as well, who are contributing to the noble cause in their own way, which is helping a great way in changing the traditional mindsets of the society for the differently able people.

We at CavinKare and Ability foundation truly believe that fruits of painstaking effort put in by the foundation, should reach every nook and corner of this country and touch the lives of all people who are physically challenged. We believe that our awards would kindle many hearts to achieve milestones, despite their physical limitations and thus help them to be one amongst us.
